RESEARCH & UNIVERSITY PROJECT EXPERIENCE

The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA

Graduate Research Associate

1

energyhawc (May 2013 - Present)

Led the construction, testing and optimization of the alpha prototype for a unique air conditioning system which integrates water heating and desiccant dehumidification for ultra high efficiency
Developed a low cost alternative for testing air conditioning equipment and integrated heat pumps to ASHRAE standards
Led the development and testing of the beta prototype which features the addition of heating capability and excess heat rejection as well as a compact layout
2

Sensible Cybernetics (August 2013 - December 2014)

Led the development and testing of the alpha prototype for a low-cost wireless sensor system used for optimal control of residential space conditioning systems alongside an undergraduate team
Developed software to regressively determine a system model of a residential structure and predict energy cost for space conditioning in real time
Developed an optimal control algorithm using a Simulink simulation incorporating historical weather data
3

enCORE (June 2013 - Present)

Aided in the reconstruction and upgrade of OSU’s 2011 Solar Decathlon house on campus. In particular, the reestablishment and repair of mechanical systems and the photovoltaic array
Installed a weather station and integrated with a SoC for wide-area access to the current and historical data
Assisted in research and outreach activities as a student member of the management board, and as an external consultant. In particular, the installation of the Sensible Cybernetics project and the development of several senior design projects in Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA

Undergraduate Research Associate

1

Fracture Mechanics (March 2010 – August 2010)

Studied interfacial and subsurface cracks in order to develop more advanced failure criteria
Developed and implemented finite element models to correctly capture fracture phenomena using various quarter-point methods and contact elements
Derived closed-form expression of buckling mode shape with a numerical solution
